I want to start off by saying that I'm a HUGE Jessica Park fan. So if you're looking for a feel good romance to curl up with or if you just are in an emotional mood and need to cry and then come out feeling better regardless this is a good choice.Īpparently, I'm the only one who doesn't love this book. Also the last scene was a little too saccharine for me but it was nice how everything circled back around in the end. I did cry a lot reading this though but I do tend to get ten times more emotional when reading, and I'm pretty emotional to begin with. Sometimes you just need a feel good story where the character grows and learns to live a more open and vulnerable life style because all of us could use a little help with that. The romance was sweet and things unfolded slowly and watching Allison grow as a person was really heartening. Granted at times it can be cheesy and sentimental, all of that still seemed to work for me.

I would have given this 4.5 stars if we had 1/2 stars but we don't so now I'm just being petty and rounding down but that's because of goodreads and has nothing to do with this book.

As Alison starts to spend time with Esben she learns to let down her walls and let go of her past. The video blows up and goes viral and Allison's best friend Steffi flies out from LA to get her into talking to Esben. The intensity of it cause Allison to drop her guard and they end up kissing before Allison panics and runs away. With her headphones in and need to minimize socializing she goes to sign it and is roped into a social experiment video being conducted by a social media star, Esben, where people sit at a table staring at one another for 180 seconds straight. With a push from her oldest friend, Allison embarks on a journey to find out if what she and Esben shared is the real thing-and if she can finally trust in herself, in others, and in love.Īllison is walking back to her dorm room one day when someone pulls her over to sign a form. When time is called, the intensity of the experience overwhelms Allison and Esben in a way that unnerves and electrifies them both. Neither she, nor Esben Baylor, the dreamy social media star seated opposite her, is prepared for the outcome. Suddenly, she finds herself in front of a crowd, forced to interact with a complete stranger for 180 seconds. One unsuspecting afternoon, Allison is roped into a social experiment just off campus. But as she begins her third year in college, she finds it increasingly difficult to disappear into the white noise pouring from her earbuds. Adopted at sixteen, she knows better than to believe in the permanence of anything. For Allison Dennis, all it takes is 180 seconds…Īfter a life spent bouncing from one foster home to the next, Allison is determined to keep others at arm’s length.
